Need Help Finding a Worthy Cause...

So for my grant writing class 85% of my grade comes from a grant proposal that I have to write. I didn't think that this was going to be difficult because I figured that I would be able submit a grant proposal for various police equipment to help the new department that was just started by the town I work for. Well it doesn't look like I will be able to use that idea. It appears that the proposal needs to be for a non-profit organization. And while government is non-profit, or at least it is supposed to be, it doesn't appear that it will meet my needs to get a good grade.

So I need help.... I need to find a non-profit organization that has a clear mission statement, a specific project that needs funding and somebody at that organization that would be willing to spend a little bit of time with me to give me the details of the above.

I'm supposed to turn in the basic information (organization, mission, group that it serves, etc) by Saturday.

All ideas welcome!

That's a good idea. I'm afraid it might be along the lines of the government thing though. I'll know more once I finally get my book today. If I can do schools, but not govt I was thinking about trying to get money for E's school for motor lab and adaptive learning items.

What about Equine Angels? They are located in Copper Canyon. I believe they help children with disabilities via horsebackriding.
The woman who started it has a non-verbal son.

What about Boy Scouts of America? Is that non-profit? I could give you a number of someone if it is?
