Long Weekends

I'm enjoying my three-day weekend, which looks like it may turn into a four-day weekend. As I expected, J is running a fever after his first full week at preschool. I'm not too surprised seeing as how this is really his first time around kids his age. I'm glad that he's not too miserable, just wanting to rest and then play a bit when his medicine kicks in. But his fever was still a bit over 100 this morning so I expect to be staying home with him tomorrow.

All in all, this weekend has been pretty relaxing. And I feel as though I got a lot accomplished which I love! I managed to clean out my pantry. Somehow I found items that expired back in 2002! The scary part is that means I actually moved these expired items twice and they are older than J is! I also did some work in the yard. I had this tree that I HATE that I transplanted. This tree was put in the middle of our yard when we built it and has a bunch of mini branches that stick out everywhere that I get my hair stuck on when I'm trying to mow around it (not that I've been doing that a lot lately thanks to my wonderful father!). It's also just plain ugly, some people have said it is a youpon (sp?) some people have said it's an oak. I have a very hard time believing that it is an oak with how ugly it is. Anyways, I decided to replace it with a Chinese Pistache back in May, but I could not find one anywhere! Last weekend dad found one at the store and picked it up for me. So I decided to move the ugly tree to the corner of the yard by the driveway and plant the Chinese Pistache up front. I started this project and got fairly well along (the transplant hole dug out and a good portion of the ugly tree dug up) when I started getting pretty tired. Apparently my dear son P noticed this and told me he would help me finish. I told him thanks and he started working, he was getting tired too and I think he noticed that I had about had it. I hate digging in clay! So my dear son called his father and told him I needed help and asked him to come over and help me. So T came over and helped us finish up...it's a good thing too because I probably would have passed out when it came time to move the trees, they were pretty big. T even needed help from the neighbor to get them moved.

So I have a clean pantry, an extra tree and I don't have to look at the ugly tree everytime I walk out the front door!
