Disney World Here We Come...
So I'm trying to plan for our Disney World vacation, only problem is that I've never been to Disney World, I've only been to Disney Land. So if there is anyone out there wanting to fill me in on what's hot and what's not I'd appreciate it. I've read different tour guide books and looked at several websites, but it's all becoming a blur. So if you have been to/heard of the best restaurants, rides, parks, etc. let me know! We plan on staying at the park in one of the budget hotels.

This will be fun!
I've never been to either. It's on my list, someday when I'm not swimming in horses!
There's a restaurant at the Polynesian Village that was "family friendly" in that it was one of those places that brought you all sorts of meat when you flipped a colored card over and had games for the kids (like hula hoop contests & limbo & other stuff) in the hour or so you're there.
We also had breakfast in Cinderella's Castle, which was absolutely amazing, but my wife got reservations like 6 months in advance, so I don't know if that's doable or not.
My kids were 11 & 9 when we went and the Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire game show were all big hits at MGM's Park.
Any parade is good...but the parade of lights in the main park is incredible, but get good seats early, and the water fireworks display at EPCOT was good, too.
And let your kids trade pins. It's a great way to stand in line...but have Kristy execute fast pass stategies learned from her dad and you won't have to do that much.
Thanks Brent. Those sound like some great ideas. I had heard about the Cinderella's Castle thing, but I wasn't sure if my boys would be interested.
We just returned in June from the World. Take advantage of the early/late openings for resort guests and fast passes were great. Disneyworld has a website that has the height requirements listed for each ride. Animal Kingdom was great and be sure to take in "It's a Bug's Life" show. Brent's family loved Ohana's but ours didn't. If possible, do the dining plan. We went through AAA which was a great help. We have girls and they loved Cinderella's Castle and pin trading. Soarin' and Test Track at Epcot were great but only the kids liked Mission: Space. Make reservations for the sit down places well in advanced. We did for only 2 and we got lucky in getting in the other nights. We've got the free Disney World planning DVD if you want it. Just email me at Natalie@DanHite.com
Thanks Natalie. We are doing the dining plan, it seems like it is well worth it, we also got the park hopper pass so we could go back and forth between parks for special events/parades etc.
Great tips guys!
oh my gosh- i love disneyworld! are you sure you don't need an aunt to go along????? ok, just kidding. well, not really.
disneyworld is awesome. don't be oevrwhelmed. the great thing is that it's pretty much set up for you. i know you are looking for the "hot" things to do. once you are there, you are going to have to start saying no to things, just because there are so many wonderful things to do.
i am so jealous!!! :)
Katie - I guess Michael didn't tell you that I invited you guys. The invitation is still open - although I know you will be busy with school. I tried to get Mark to go along too, but he's too responsible trying to earn money before the wedding. So it looks like it will just be me, Kristy, P & J - darn, I don't think we are going to have any fun!
No- Michael did not tell me! Crazy kid. When are you guys going? It's going to be so fun for you. :)
We're going the end of October, it looks like you need to have a chat with my dear brother!
