Birthday Eve
On this the eve of my 30th Birthday I have decided to publish my "40 Before 40" list. These are 40 things that I want to accomplish before I turn 40. Originally my goal was to have all 40 chosen by my 30th birthday, but I have decided to leave room to add things because 10 years is a long time! (And because I procrastinated a little bit!) So here is my list (in no particular order):
40 Before 40
- Ride in a hot air ballon (I was supposed to ride in one with my friend Erin when I was in 1st grade and for some reason couldn't...I don't remember why, but ever since then I've wanted to ride in one.)
- Finish college
- Learn how to fold a fitted sheet.
- Eat at a famous chef's restaurant (I'm thinking of maybe somebody from Food Network or Chef Ramsey)
- Start a monthly "Family Dinner Nite" and stick to it (meaning extended family to the extent that they live in the DFW area)
- Take a photography class
- Read through the entire Bible
- Go to Las Vegas
- Make homemade pasta
- Get a full body massage (the only reason I haven't done this yet is because I know I will enjoy it too much and I'm not going to pay for it on a regular basis!)
- Get a will in place.
- Get down to my pre-pregnancy weight (I'll fill you in on exactly what that is when I hit it, but I have a good ways to go!)
- Start a ministry for parents of children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Take the kids (P & J) to Disney World (I've already made reservations for October!)
- Learn how to make the perfect cheesecake.
- Watch Gone With the Wind and Casablance (no, I have never seen either of these movies)
- Pay off all my credit card debt
- Go to New York
- See a broadway show (tied in with #17)
- See the Rockettes (tied in with #17)
- Go to Italy
- Drive Route 66
- Ride a motorcycle
- Learn how to golf
- Go on a cruise
- Catch a fish (I've gone fishing a few times and have yet to catch a fish)
- Go to a drive-in movie
- Learn how to make sushi
- ..... still thinking
So there it is so far, we'll see how I do.

If you booked your trip to disney and didn't use my travel agency, I'm going to be so mad!
Just kidding, but next time you take a vacation call me, or check out my vacation website.
Also, I have a recipe for the PERFECT cheesecake. I'll share.
I checked your site first! But I ended up booking through Disney World so I could stay on-site and get their special dining pass. Only Disney's authorized travel agents can sell them. I did try though!
I'm tearing up reading this! I am so glad you are writing again!
Okay- my opinions: College- I know!
Gone With the Wind- Let's have a movie night, of course I own it! The Bible- Me too- I feel like life is all a big book report on a book I haven't read and I'm faking it. Golf- Can help you with that. I feel a girls' trip to Vegas coming- right Jen? OR a girls' cruise- or Italy or New York, hmm...
Well, I love you and Happy Birthday! This is where life begins...
HoneyB - I knew you could help with the movies and the golf! I think a girl's trip to Vegas is a great idea!
Happy Birthday ;-)
What a wonderful list.
Reminds me of something I did when I was 32. It was called my 10 BHAGS. Big Hairy Audacious Goals. 10 of the wildest and most Audacious things I could think of ever wanting to do. 8 of the 10 have come to pass. I had completely forgotten about the list and found it when I was moving to Europe.
The only one of the things on the list I could help you with? how to fold a sheet...
giggle
I look forward to reading your blog.
